Planet Coaster

Roller Coaster Tycoon was the first game I bought when I got a PC. It revolutionized the sim genre and expanded the minds of aspiring engineers across the planet. 20 some years later Planet Coaster expands the idea and cleans up the formula in ways the RCT franchise forgot.

We hadn't had a good theme park sim in well over a decade, just like there hasn't been a taller roller coaster since Great Adventure's Kingda Ka opened in 2005. The interface is nice, hotkeys are mapped accordingly, and it's easier than ever to build a functioning and realistic coaster thanks to the game's simple smoothing function.

Some protips along the way for sandbox players: Divide your park into sections and use work roasters, max out queue scenery, and use block sections on coasters to fit extra trains. I was able to jump in and out of Planet Coaster over the course of a year which lends credence to how easy it is to pick up. Lag sorta crept in around 10000 guests and I didn't really notice it until 15000. Don't get me twisted-- the game still played fine at that point but it wasn't up to GAME TEST PLAY'S capturing standard, so I had to close my park to record rides smoothly for the megamix which is why the park appears empty at times, and not because of rioting or a virus.
